Cul-De-Canard CDC Feathers
Cul-De-Canard CDC Feathers
I shudder to think about all the CDC feathers I passed up from my duck hunting days. Now CDC, or more properly 'cul-de-canard', have a dominant place in my tying. These naturally buoyant feathers come from the area around the preen glands of waterfowl. They shed water even after they have been gathered, cleaned, dried and dyed. We offer them in natural as well as several dyed colours. We make them into wings, wrap them as hackles and, use them for tails. We also bunch them together and use them on krill patterns for coho.
