Rio Avid Trout Series Fly Line

Rio developed the Avid series of fly lines for the keen fly fisher with tapers and technology that enhance the fly fishing experience. The lines are designed for easy casting performance, with slightly heavier and shorter head lengths. Each line is built on a supple memory-free core, and has a super slick coating for easy distance. A welded loop on the front end allows anglers to rig easily.

The head length of the Rio Gold jumps upward incrementaly in one foot lengths from 45 feet in the 3-weight, to 49 feet in the 7-weight. This makes it more suitable for longer delicate casts with dries or small nymphs fished just under the surface. All weights in the Rio Grand have a 33 foot long head. Perfect for casting heavier streamers and weighted nymphs. You can even attach a poly leader here for plumbing the depths where the big ones hang out.

The earlier variation of the Avid has a head length of 38 feet making it a general all round taper and a very suitable length for novice casters.
