Elk Mane and Elk Rump

Elk Mane comes from bull elk. It has a nice rich colour and runs about 3 inches long. This makes it a great material for wings on large stonefly patterns and for steelhead skaters. It has a stiffer texture so lends itself well as a tailing material on dries.

Elk Rump is a somewhat longer hair than elk body so it comes into its own on big dries. It spins very well so is great on bass poppers and it makes nice extended bodied mayflies.
