Wapsi Schlappen Feathers - 1/8 oz. Pack

Many tyers ignore schlappen. They see these as not quite saddles and nowhere near neck hackles so what good is a schlappen feather? Let us tell you...schlappen come into their own in large intruder patterns and they also spark the interest of the big lake cutthroat trout here on Vancouver Island as well as bull trout over on the mainland. Their webby fibres are supported on a fairly thin yet durable stem so they cast easily. They also can be tied in full feather and we've had some good luck on a leech we tie using olive schlappen over at Lois Lake near Powell River. The feathers run from 5 to 7 inches but are occasionally longer. They're well worth a look if you are tying larger patterns for big beefy trout.
